In April 2019 the unemployment rate was 3.6%. The next year that number was 13%.

V.I.E.W.S. is a senior thesis project focused on visualizing data in an interactive format to demonstrate the effects of the COVID-19 lockdown on all occupations.

Data

COVID-19 has had a massive impact, but the data and research we have on it is dated. Also, available research doesn’t cover how individual states were affected. This project addresses both issues by drawing from more recent labor data and analyzing occupation trends in individual states. Particular attention is given to service occupations since this group lost the greatest number of employees.
